March 12, 2020
The Membership of PSIG
Dear Member:
We are certain that you have been closely following the national and international development of issues related to the Corona Virus COVID-19.
The Board of Directors of PSIG has, likewise, been focused on working through the planning process for the upcoming PSIG Conference scheduled to be held at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter May 4 – 8, 2020.
We are cognizant of the ongoing guidelines announced by the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention, (CDC), and the World Health Organization, (WHO), who recommend caution related to travel and the holding of meetings. We are also aware that a large majority of the organizations that would normally attend PSIG have now implementedrestrictive travel bans for all non-essential travel.
Given the above, and after much deliberation, the Board of Directors has deemed it appropriate to proceed with cancellation of the PSIG Conference for this year.
Paper Authors: Authors who have completed their manuscripts and wish to have the paper published, will be allowed to do so on OnePetro.org after due review of the paper by PSJG. Alternatively , authors will be given the opportunity to present their paper in 2021.
Registered Attendees: Registered attendees will receive a full refund of their registration fee to the original credit card used for payment. The Marriott Rivercenter will cancel your room reservation directly.
PSIG Membership: To those of you who were considering attending, we extend our apologies but look forward to welcoming you to San Diego, California in May, 2021.
We wish you a healthy year ahead.
